Well, that just goes to show how much I know about current affairs! I’ve been so wrapped up in exploring the city and trying to snag a date for Valentine’s day (didn’t happen lol) that I didn’t even realize that Madrid fashion week began last Thursday! During my pursuit for a companion on V-Day I noticed a lot of very beautiful women occupying the city, not that the city isn’t always awash with stunning women. I’m embarrassed to admit that I have been rejected by more models in the past three days than I ever thought possible!
Alas, it was not meant to be but I have viewed the city become a bustling hub of luxury and lasciviousness. Mercedes Benz has hosted multiple event around the city and the paparazzo are buzzing around every street corner. It is interesting to see the disparity between the locals who keep going about their business and the high class guests of fashion week. Of course, I didn’t attend any events (I’m not even sure how to go about doing that), but it would have been fun to see a real fashion show.
In other news, classes have begun and they are going swell. It’s always great to meet a new group of students who are eager to learn and appreciate what I have to offer. Schools in Spain are quite interesting, I have been told that I am too nice with the students and should be a bit more draconian. This is tough because all of the students are so great and responsive, perhaps that’s because they have always attended classes where attention is expected. Imagine if schools in the U.S. adopted a similar approach.
Well, that’s me checking in! I’m going to be attending a soccer match with one of the other ESL teachers who has lived here for over year on Saturday!
