Well here I am again, sitting in the airport getting ready to embark on yet another journey. I’ve filled up on McDonald’s breakfast sandwiches as I want to be sick of those delicious hockey pucks of sausage for at least 3 months while I am in Madrid.
I have to say, I am glad I got to stick around for the Super Bowl, even it wasn’t the best game. Sometimes I travel so much that I forget that our own American culture is fascinating in and of itself. The fact that we gorge on hot wings and onion dip is truly American.
Let’s hope that my flight is on time. I am supposed to meet with my host family for dinner later tonight and I would like to have couple hours to get acclimated to the city before jumping in head first. Thankfully I didn’t get caught up in the awful weather that has been plaguing my friends in the Midwest.
Here is my timeline for the day. My flight leaves from Seattle at 10:30 before stopping in Miami for a 10 hour layover. Blech! Thankfully, my aunt lives right by the Miami airport and she has promised to put me up for the night and order me some Gumbo from my favorite restaurant La Granja.
After catching a couple hours of sleep it’s back to the airport for another 8 hour flight with American Airlines (crap food), landing in Spain and then picking up my rental car to get around. I’ve got enough battery to last me through both flights so look for some bored online updates from yours truly. I’ll check back in when I land in Miami.
UPDATE: Just landed in Miami and I’m waiting on Aunt Teresa to pick me up. I definitely regret those 3 McDonald’s breakfast sandwiches because my stomach is killing me. Hopefully a Cervesa and some Gumbo will calm the tummy.
