Making Your Holiday a Little More Homely

Whilst most of us go on holiday to get away from it all, we’ve all suffered that painful moment when we realise that there was one item that we’d wished we’d brought with us.

So if you’re heading off to exotic climes this summer, give this checklist a quick looking over and make sure you’ve got everything you need to create a home away from home when travelling.

Sleeping aids

Most of us have suffered that horrifying hotel bed that can make sleep impossible. But Snugpak’s Butterfly Pillow can at least give your head a little bit of rest. It can be easily inflated or deflated and is also highly compact.

And although taking a luxury Artisan bed with us is impossible, there are other ways that you can help yourself feel relaxed in a foreign sleeping environment. Sleep masks will cancel out the negative effects of paper-thin curtains allowing in sunlight in the small hours. And a portable Bluetooth speaker is a great way to mask the sound of any unwelcome street noise.

Electronic devices

With the rise of digital technology, it’s become apparent that not even the most-intrepid backpacker can get by without a smartphone for snapping those exotic locations and beaming them back home. So in order to keep fully charged at all times, think about taking a handy multi-USB adaptor like the SANSYS Quad-port USB charging system that can charge four devices at once and comes with adaptors for different electricity regions.

If you find yourself somewhere particularly remote, then you might have wished you’d taken an extra battery pack with you such as the Anker Astro E7 external battery pack that can charge the average iPhone up to ten times.

And for those who insist on staying connected at all times, then check out the HooToo wireless router which allows you to create a Wi-Fi signal to share with any friends travelling with you. And at under 10cm long, it’s small enough to fit into most pockets!

Health issues

Getting sick on holiday has to be one of the worst experiences we face when travelling. Not only is there the feeling of illness to deal with, but being uncertain of local health facilities can also add to the trauma.

So do a bit of research to find out the best travel insurance options. And though you’ll probably not want to take a full first aid kit with you, a few anti-diarrhoea tablets, insect repellent, after-sun cream and some comfortable flight socks will ensure you’re covered for most eventualities!
