This is my first Christmas in Berlin but it isn’t my first time spending Christmas alone in a foreign city. The first time I did it I felt quite lonely watching all the other families scuttling around in their Christmas garb and merriment. But I have learned that having good friends and family doesn’t mean that you can only get together during the holidays. This time around I just soaked up all the festivities that are going on around the city. I treated myself to a fancy dinner at Borchardt the nicest traditional German food restaurant in the city. I even got the opportunity to have a skype session with my parents and sister just as they were waking up for Christmas presents and brunch. It was funny to see all of them in their pajamas just as I was preparing to go out for the night.
