Savannah Might Be the Most Dog Friendly City in America

Savannah, Georgia is a great spot to travel with your furry friend. The southern town is one of the most dog friendly cities and welcomes all pooches with open arms. Savannah is the oldest city in the United States and you can take your four-legged friend along with you to view all of the history of the town.

Of course, all dogs need to be on a leash, but the entire city of Savannah allows pets pretty much everywhere. There are plenty of parks throughout the gorgeous town and most of them welcome pooches of all sizes. You can find water bowls for your dog at parks like Ellis Square and Troup Square. Mother Matilda Beasley Dog Park in the Historic District is a great place to go for some off the leash fun. There is even a dog station for bathing. Downtown Savannah has the largest dog park in the city and it has separate areas for different size dogs.

A number of hotels and restaurants in Savannah are also dog friendly. If the restaurant has outdoor seating, you can safely assume that your pet is allowed. Most of them even have a special menu full of treats and goodies just for your dog. Local shops also welcome pooches to browse the stores.

If your pooch is less than 25 pounds, they can join you on the Old Savannah Tours Trolley Tours. If you have a smaller dog that is less than 20 pounds, you can take them with you on a horse and carriage ride with the Plantation Carriage Company. Most of the walking tours around the Historic District and the rest of the city like Ghost Tours in Savannah are also dog friendly. The Georgia State Railroad Museum is outdoors and a lot of fun for the whole family, even your four-legged family member is allowed.
