Traveling to different places is on everyone’s bucket list. But not every state is known to be a prime location spot. There are a few states that see a low number of tourists every year, but they should not be dismissed. These states are charming and beautiful in their own way.
Vermont
Vermont sits right on the U.S.-Canadian border and only sees about 12.8 million visitors each year. In Derby, there is actually a cool library and opera house that sits right on the border making it in the United State and Canada. Vermont is home to some great breweries and there are surprisingly a lot of distilleries and breweries considering the small size of the state. If you have a sweet tooth, Vermont has some of the best ice cream around. Locals have a slight obsession with maple so they also have some of the best maple syrup. The natural landscape is gorgeous because Vermont is made up of 75 percent forest.
Montana
It is surprising that Montana is the third least visited state with only 11 million tourists every year. The state is home to Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park and most of Montana sees their visitors because of these. But if the national parks aren’t enough to get you to visit Montana, then maybe the first-rate skiing in the resort town of Whitefish will. Whitefish has the same incredible slopes that are in Colorado and Utah, but it isn’t as crowded. Montana is also a great place to try some fly-fishing. The state really offers something for everyone.
Mississippi
About 22 million visitors annually visit the state of Mississippi. It is the perfect state to visit for all music lovers. Not only is it the birthplace of Elvis, it is also home to three different music trails that will take you through churches, train depots, fields and nightclubs to learn about the history of blues and country music. But music isn’t the only thing Mississippi offers. It also has 26 miles of immaculate white sand beaches and water. The great thing about these beaches is they are not as crowded as the beaches in Florida. Another plus is the beach towns have casinos and a raging nightlife.
