I’m so glad that I can be a part of my cousin’s blog while he takes a break from traveling, I just got accepted into Gothenburg University for a workshop that’ll go towards my masters in Communication! I’m really excited about going, but I’m also deathly afraid, because I don’t speak Swedish and haven’t even been out of North America—talk about a gamble! A little about me, I got my BA in communication with an emphasis on critical theory at San Diego University in 2011. I’m a coffee fiend, as someone going to grad school should be, and I love a good adventure. I lived in California most of my life, and I’m really just tired of the same kind of warm weather here. I’ve only seen a light snowfall, so it’s going to be really weird to be in Sweden, where they have absolutely freezing temperatures. The new weather is probably going to kill me Oh, and I really love burritos, it’s an California thing.
I’m going to invest in things like thermals, scarves, hats, gloves, and maybe even like a balaclava. I don’t know how well I’ll be able to tolerate all the cold but I hope that I can enjoy myself and embrace all these new changes. I really can’t wait to visit the other Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo, and Riga too, I’m really interested in Northern Europe for some reason, I still want to visit Paris too, but maybe once I find myself settled and comfortable I’ll make my way there. Gothenburg looks beautiful, the Archipelago, Kansen Kronan, and Slottkugen Park seem great from google maps. How exciting!! For now I’m going to keep packing, and listening to ABBA, just kidding!
