Visiting Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas began to rise to prominence during the 1970s, when the Hollywood elite chose this Mexican city as a luxurious respite from the rigors of show business. Taking note of this, the Mexican government began developing the area as a major tourist center. Located at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, Cabo San Lucas – commonly referred to as Cabo for short – has since blossomed into one of Mexico’s premier beach resorts. There are many excellent reasons to visit Cabo San Lucas over other spots in the tourist-friendly country.

Villas

Cabo San Lucas vacation villas are some of the best ones in the country. Located strategically close to the surrounding beach resorts without experiencing the hustle and bustle, Cabo San Lucas Villas comprise the luxury resort communities of Villas Del Mar Palmilla and Espiritu Del Mar. The villas feature suites with two to six bedrooms, spacious outdoor terraces, and spacious unobstructed view of the Sea of Cortez with splendid white-sand beaches. Also, the concierge team stock the villas with groceries, airport transfers and villa accommodation details prior to the visitors’ arrival. Customers book units through the Del Mar Escapes vacation rental program.

Beaches

Cabo San Lucas is also known for its beautiful collection of beaches. Land’s End, or “El Arco,” is considered a number-one beach visitation choice. Located to the south of Cabo San Lucas, El Arco’s defining characteristic is its collection of rock formations that were created by the Baja California peninsula’s rough-and-tough winds and seas. Vacationers can view the sea lions that frequent the Los Frailes rock formation area, and El Arco also serves as an outstanding diving spot. Flanking El Arco are Playa del Amor and Playa del Divorcio, beaches that welcome couples for a relaxing time of sunbathing, picnicking and watching the wild and turbulent waves.

Entertainment and Nightlife

For those in search of entertainment, there’s the musical and theatrical allure of Casa de la Cultura. The building once served as a place of refuge for American citizens while the Mexican-American War raged on in the late 1840s. Today, however, it is a place for showcasing local Mexican culture, either in the form of music or theater performances. For a more party-hard experience, there’s the Cabo Wabo Cantina, founded and owned by none other than rock legend Sammy Hagar. Comprising a nightclub and restaurant, the Cabo Wabo Cantina is located on Calle Guerrero in the heart of Cabo San Lucas. It is heralded as one of the best nightlife destinations in Cabo San Lucas. You may not see Sammy Hagar in person, but you are sure to have a good time.

Sightseeing

Perhaps the best option for sightseeing in Cabo San Lucas, apart from the aforementioned beaches, is the Iglesia de San Lucas. Functioning as the main church in the city, the Iglesia de San Lucas offers a taste of Mexico’s local architecture and religious traditions. Even though it was founded in 1730, the church has undergone very few architectural or aesthetic changes over the centuries, thus making it one of the purest original landmarks in the area. Next to the Iglesia is the town square on Calle Cabo, which features a splendid gazebo.

Whether you’re in it for the spectacular beaches, the relaxing villas, the exciting nightlife or the historical sightseeing, Cabo San Lucas will provide you with an unforgettable travel experience.
