Getting Work Done on a Plane is Possible!

It is probably hard to believe, but you can be productive and get work done while on a flight! A lot of careers demand a hectic and busy traveling schedule. These helpful tips will help you stay on track while flying the friendly skies.

WorkingFirst, make sure to always choose a flight with WiFi. You can still get some work done without WiFi, but I find that having the choice of using WiFi leads to me being more productive. While connected to WiFi, you can do any research you need to do and be able to stay up to date on emails so you don’t have a million to go through when you land. By doing this, you won’t feel rushed when you land. You can relax; get to your next destination knowing that you are on top of things.

Even though you want to try to get WiFi, you can still be proactive and do some of your researching and downloading prior to boarding your flight. Sometimes having the luxury of WiFi doesn’t always go as planned so this way you can still have your work that you need like recent emails, to work on during the flight. You don’t necessarily need WiFi to do all of your work and planning on the computer.

Flying coach limits your workspace, but I have found that the exit row gives you more room and is a great place to sit to do some work. You can always pay more to sit in business or first class, but if you are not looking to break the bank, this is an easy way to find more space in coach. Sometimes it does cost a little extra, but nothing like the cost of fully upgrading. Plus, it is worth it to get work done in a more relaxing and comfortable setting.

Of course the most important thing is to be prepared and make sure your devices are fully charged. It is also smart to bring either a back up battery or an external power pack. For phones and iPods, they have small portable power packs that work great and will last your whole flight. Try to charge everything before going on the plane, this is easy since there are lots of plugs at the airport so you can work on things and be charging at the same time.
