Pizza may have originated in Italy but over the past couple centuries the original Neapolitan recipe has been altered into tons of different variations. There is the endless debate between New York style thin crust and the casserole like Chicago deep dish. But pizza style doesn’t end there, in the U.S. alone there is New Haven style, greasy Detroit style, light California style, and the Philadelphia tomato pie. Outside of the U.S. companies have taken the pizza pie to all new levels of strangeness and dare I say depravity.
Most of these barely resemble pizza and come from Asian countries but I will take from the appetizing to down right strange. There is some crazy pizza in this world and I want to eat it all!
Crown Crust Cheeseburger Pizza
This is one of the few pizzas that I would actually eat. Originally offered in the Middle East then found in United Kingdom this pizza utilizes lettuce, tomato, and sausage with a Thousand Island sauce. The crust of the pizza is stuffed with a small hamburger patty. The teenage mutant ninja turtles would have a field day.
Pizza Hut’s Hot Dog Stuffed Pizza
This pizza is only available in the UK and it’s exactly what it sounds like. A standard pizza with red sauce and cheese that has hot dogs shoved in it’s crust. The pizza is then complimented with a honey mustard drizzle.
Shrimp and Mayo Roll Crust
Ok we’re starting to get pretty weird here. This pizza features shrimp nuggets injected with mayonnaise then wrapped in dough. I don’t know what screams pizza like shrimp filled dough balls and mayonnaise.
Triple Cheese Pizza
This isn’t a pizza that has three different cheeses mixed together its actually three thin crust pizzas stacked on top of one another. Actually sounds pretty appetizing with one layer of cheddar, one layer of Emmemental and a final layer of Camembert.
There appears to me some sort of mustard drizzle on top of this pizza as well.
Grand Prix
This pizza is made with a cookie dough crust topped with shrimp, and potatoes from Mr. Pizza in South Korea. Truly unappetizing this blend of savory and sweet must be pretty disgusting.
