Italy Recap, Plotting New Courses During Holidays

Now that I’ve been home for the holidays for a few weeks I’m definitely getting restless. Traveling is by far one of my favorite things to do, and one of my greatest passions in life. Being home this long is making my feet itchy and I’m ready to head out again!

Despite my restlessness, however, I do think it’s good to be home and reflect on the year I’ve had. 2013 was an incredible year for me. I met some awesome people and had the time of my life with my ESL program and have been so fortunate to influence so many young minds.

Italy truly is an incredible place to visit and I’m so lucky to have been out there for as long as I was. As much as I like being home and seeing my friends and family, there’s not a day that goes by that I’m not thinking about the school, the kids, and most of all the food. Don’t get me wrong, I love my mom’s cooking and all, but nothing beats agnolotti, trippa romana, or even just a pizza made fresh in an authentic Italian kitchen.

Thinking back to the days when I was homesick in Italy, I never would have thought that I’d actually be home feeling the opposite. Now that I’m home, all I want to do is head back to Italy and walk around the streets, breathe in the air, take in the sights and sounds… relax. Being home with my friends like Brandon and Sarah has been great, but I still long for adventure.

Alas, there’s no time like the present, so I’m going to do my best to make the most of my time here at home. Mom and I are going to see a movie tomorrow – something I haven’t done in quite some time – and I’ll probably start making some more concrete plans for my next adventure.

Asia sounds like fun, but the more I think about my time in Italy, the more I am considering visiting more of Europe. I think maybe Spain would be an interesting place to visit. Plus, I know I could get some work there.

I definitely have a lot to think about within the next couple of days. If I do end up going anywhere I’m going to have to start getting my plans together soon! Anyway, that’s it for now. I’d love to hear from you! Where do you think I should go? Have you been to Spain? Is it worth visiting? Let me know!
